Zyxel x-550 firmware update
I get I have 1. I'm wondering if they fixed the periodic disconnects Installed and running fine here so far. Upgraded right from beta 1. The buffer improved to handle video streaming. It is fast like the beta 1. It even kept the previous setting. Great job ZyXel!
Other than when saving a setting and browser comes back as 'page not displayed, selecting another config folder or the same folder displays that your changes were accepted.
A minor issue I've had with all 1. All else working fine. It is not much of video streaming. I just played the MSN music video: » music. Most routers like DLink and X are chopping when the video is playing. Firmware beta 1. X has the best VoIP than other brand routers. Installed 1. Power cycle and hard reset will bring the router back. It starts slow but once it starts everything works fine. I had same issue on upgrade to fw1. Should be fine. I got lucky, I guess: didn't have to reset the router at all while going from 1.
Well-behaved little thing I can't get 1. It sits on the firmware page like it is loading then I get the page can not be found and it does nothing.
I am not running the beta 1. Most commented news last week [43] Happy New Year! Most Active Forum Topics this week Firefox Reusable grocery bags [ Open Forum ] by IowaCowboy Unlimited Data is GB?

Show me the firmware in "Plan English" format.
Even ZyXel tech support told me they are not the same. Right or wrong, I already confirmed with Zyxel that the firmwares are not the same. The main objective in this forum is to help others, I think everybody will agree with me on that. Everybody who helps does it I truly believe to the best of their knowledge, experience and expertise. That said, not everybody is always correct including myself That's why others who believe or know they have the right answer post corrections.
There are other non-IT users on this forum that may easily get misled by incorrect statements posted, that's why others try to re-set the answers if they know better. Take that as compliment that somebody is looking at your thread and contributing, learn from others and don't take this personally and be offended. To this particular case: The firmwares are the same. Or there are just too many folks at ZyXel updating the same content on the FTP not talking to each other I don't know.
The fact is that the 3 mentioned firmwares are exactly same bit by bit. Why you may experience a different behavior of the router after each upgrade is different story. It has to do with the HW design and the upgrade routines. Apparently something is wrong, and re-set to defaults or re-flash helps.
We've seen this before. Just wish ZyXel was more diligent in writing the upgrade subroutines. EDIT: Hope you stay on the forum and keep your updates on X as you seem to have quite an experience with that model. If you truly believe that somebody is screwing up your posts, just hit the 'hey mods' button under each post and inform the moderator.
I'm sure s he will take an action. What Brano just said. The packaging maybe different but the bin file, the actual firmware, is bit by bit identical. That's all that gets uploaded to the router. That's all that counts. Riuski join Alhambra, CA. Okay, here's the deal. I've experienced different behaviors by different Xs with the same freakin' firmware. One example is the freakin' "Page cannot be displayed" error after trying to save any changes on any particular page.
For those of you unfamiliar with the error, the setting gets saved, but instead of showing the page that gives you the option to "reboot the device" or "continue," the frame shows page cannot be displayed.
Now, I found out that this "bug" disappeared when I used a different computer. Yet I never had any problems with 1. Oh, as it relates to the topic currently being discussed Go figure. It should be obvious by now that that there is only one 1. However, it is also clear that there are different results on different X routers with this firmware. Assuming that there is some truth to the reports of different results with the same router, I can tell you guys that it is too common in the WIFI business that manufacturers use the same model number for different hardware version of the same router.
Some manufacturer list the hardware version on the retail box so you know what hardware version you are buying. A lot of them do not. Linksys does not, I know this from personal experience. Belkin does list their hardware version on the retail box. I have a bunch of Linksys, Netgear and Belkin routers to prove it. Zyxel lists the serial number but not the hardware version.
So may be, just may be, there are some small hardware revision on the different X which explains the different results. Of course if you have draft N routers, the above is only too true. Jynx join I did the upgrade and got the message about waiting two minutes and all seemed well.
Two minutes later I get a page cannot be found text line. Uh oh, what have I done? So began my tedious process of finding out what went wrong. It's AM mind you, and I am pulling out the desk, looking at cables, checking the power, trying a reset, power cycling, power cycling resets, nothing works.
At this point, knowing the rest of the family will sacrifice me to the internet deity without net access, I hooked up an old Linksys router and things worked again. Everything except my computer naturally. At least I wasn't going to be sacrificed though. The next day I went through the same process, cables, power, resets.
Still nothing. I could sometimes connect to the Linksys but not the net. I went through the process of elimination and discovered that the other computers could connect to the Zyxel router though mine could not. Routers ok, must be the cable. I return with a cat5e cable from Target to test the cable and then it hits me: I had all the computers set up as static ip's. The firmware changed the address to
